Five operating principles to which we hold ourselves accountable.

    Senior personnel engaged from day one.

    The consultants who scope the project remain on the build team. Engagements are not transferred to a junior team once the proposal is executed.

    Production-grade increments.

    A working slice on real data within six weeks. Demonstrations and sandboxes are not measured as progress; production deployment is the benchmark.

    Vendor-independent.

    We hold partnerships with several platforms because our clients operate them, not because of commercial incentives to recommend specific vendors.

    Documented decisions.

    Decisions, trade-offs, and the items we elect not to deliver, captured in language a non-technical board can review and defend.

    Designed for self-sufficiency.

    The engagement concludes with a runbook and a client team that no longer requires our support. We prefer future re-engagement on new work to long-term retention.

The short version

Established in 2018 by practitioners with a decade of experience inside the work.

Ascent Minds was founded by enterprise IT practitioners who had previously run programmes from the client side and observed the limitations of consultancies that engage with presentations and depart with invoices. The firm was established on a different premise: remain small, remain senior, and remain accountable to outcomes that can be quantified.

The firm now operates a Melbourne head office and an engineering team in Kathmandu, working as a single team on Australian business hours. We decline more engagements than we accept, and consider this consistent with our operating model.
